ABOUT ME
I'm a born and raised Cincinnatian with strong ties to my Italian roots. I started school just around the corner from UC before moving to Wyoming, OH (just 15 minutes north) where I have lived since I was 7 years old. I'm a nerd that loved calculus and anatomy in high school, which may explain why I'm pursuing a degree in biomedical engineering.
I love watching Broadway musicals, doing yoga, reading books, and catching up on my favorite TV shows on a lazy Sunday.

I love to travel. My mom is Italian and my dad is Greek, and ever since I was three months old, we would travel to Italy every summer to visit my mom's side of the family. Growing up, she taught me how to speak the language. Having this experience has made me realize that I can't really get to know a country and its culture without completely immersing myself in its lifestyle, and that definitely includes being able to speak the language with a certain degree of fluency.

And I love languages.
Not very surprisingly, speaking one language led me to another. I started taking French classes in middle school and only stopped when I ran out of high school classes. I've since declared a second major in French and am taking classes again. I first traveled with the University Honors Program to Paris, where I put my language skills to the test and was extremely excited to learn that all my hard work over the years had paid off and I felt confident in my ability to communicate with the people around me. I then traveled again to Normandy to study at the University of Caen for six weeks, where I was able to sharpen the skills I had developed and reach a level of independence and fluency in French.
Things I like to do in my free time...For the past few years, I was in charge of planning a Beautiful Lengths campaign event on campus. Beautiful Lengths is a partnership between Pantene and the American Cancer Society. This program is similar to Locks of Love in that people donate their hair in order to create real-hair wigs that are distributed to women with cancer, free of charge. I created a registered student organization on campus in order to bring this program to the University.
When I was not planning the Beautiful Lengths Campaign, I worked with UC's chapter of Engineers Without Borders to plan their annual banquet which celebrates the accomplishments of the year and helps to spread the word around the professional community about their mission. I also volunteer for several different events across the city, particularly for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. |
