Gateway to University Honors
Honors 110 is the gateway course for the University Honors Program.
This course teaches the "ins and outs" of the Honors Program, such as experiential learning projects and the use of e-portfolios.

This I Believe
As part of this course, we had to identify one of our beliefs and write a brief statement explaining it. This assignment was based on the NPR series "This I Believe."
This piece I wrote at the beginning of the quarter and later revised to its current and final version. The purpose of this assignment was to explore and practice reflective writing, which was one of the key lessons in this course, as reflective writing is a necessary skill in maintaining an e-portfolio.
This was my attempt at exploring one of my beliefs. It may not be the one thing that I believe-in-above-all-things-nothing-is-more-important-to-me, but it's an observation I've made in my life. After all, a true belief statement of that sort would require a lot more time and soul searching than I had time to give it. And of course it's just difficult, especially at this point in my life when a lot of things are changing, including me, and beliefs don't necessarily stay in one place the whole time. So instead, I thought I'd concentrate on something smaller and unique.

Why e-portfolio? Inquiry Project
Another part of this course was learning about different kinds of e-portfolios and their purposes since maintaining an e-portfolio is a mandatory part of the University Honors Program. At the time of this assignment, iWebfolio was the only e-portfolio platform supported by the University Honors Program.
This particular project was meant to help us explore the use of e-Portfolios in education and the professional world, as well as the concept behind e-Portfolios in general. It helped us understand the purpose of iWebfolio as part of the honors program.
It was useful for me personally because we researched the benefits and disadvantages, as well as the intent of an e-Portfolio in general so I could understand what my iWebfolio should include and how it can be used.

Honors Experience Proposal
This was one of the most important parts of the course: learning how to propose an honors experiential learning project. Through this assignment, I not only learned how to go about writing a proposal, but also what is required and how to make a substantial and valuable experience proposal.
Final Reflection
As a requirement, every honors experience must include a final reflective essay discussing the entire experience and what was learned.
